I (Ryan) began farming for the first time in 2022. It was not even one year since I completed my degree in forestry that I came across a job posting at a vegetable farm. Without ever even considering farming as a career, my passion for nature as well as for health urged me to look into it further. I got the job and after my first year I knew this was the path that I wanted to follow.
I began learning a tremendous amount about natural farming methods and the positive impact it has on the land and on the community. I was also becoming aware of the alarming decline in the number of farms. While conventional farms are increasing in size, the small local farms are continuing to disappear. The use of dangerous pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and GMOs are all on the rise, and it is becoming more difficult to find good quality food. I saw the need for local farms and healthy food, so in 2025 I founded Ryan’s Natural Harvest.
I was given an incredible opportunity to use land at Peace of Heaven Farm in Zimmerman, MN. I began selling vegetables at a Farmers Market as well as through our CSA subscription. I am currently increasing the operation by growing the CSA program as well as by selling at the Farmers Markets in Isanti, MN and Princeston, MN.

We use only natural fertilizers and pest control methods. Absolutely no chemicals are used on our crops. This makes healthier soil as well as healthier vegetables without the need for concern.

We do not till on our farm. Tilling breaks down the natural structure of the soil causing compaction, erosion, and decreased water absorption. Instead, we utilize permanent raised beds to keep the soil structure intact.

Healthy soil contains a whole ecosystem of micro-organisms beneath the surface.
To foster this ecosystem, we implement methods such as composting, cover cropping, and crop rotation.

For us, farming is not merely a hobby or even just a business. It is truly a way of life that serves a purpose. It is about restoring what has been lost over the last century with the rise of conventional agriculture.
At our farm, we have a threefold mission:
The use of chemical pesticides, artificial fertilizers, and the genetic engineering of crops is a growing concern among many people. Rather than attempting to control nature through artificial means, we work with nature and support natural processes. Through our farming methods, we aim to provide the healthiest produce possible. We also serve locally, so our vegetables stay fresher for longer.
Our farming practices do not just benefit the crops that we grow or the soil that they are grown in. Nothing is isolated in nature, and we believe there is an extended positive impact on the environment. A thriving garden without the use of toxic chemicals or other pollutants creates an ideal habitat for beneficial microbes, insects, and other small animals that play vital roles in the health of the surrounding ecosystem.
With the consolidation of the food supply into the hands of fewer and fewer people, there is a growing disconnect between consumers and where their food comes from. Society today is becoming more individualized, and we have lost much of the traditional community lifestyle. We believe it is important for customers to know their farmers, as well as for farmers to know their customers. This is what builds mutual support and strengthens local community.

We offer a wide variety of fresh, local vegetables through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) subscription and at our local farmers markets.
We cannot do it alone - we need your support!
